Good explanation of a subtle gotcha in SSRS.
Thanks, Andy!

Nice short and to the point, would have appreciated the creation of roles in security

In our company we never grant users or groups to the "User" system role. Instead we grant the "Browser" role the groups we need and that seems to work well. It seems that the "User" system role would do nothing more, is that true? Or are we missing something?

Understanding security is always difficult. Getting a window in basics is always great. Thanks.

wasquite useful. As version changes things are done somewhat differently, so it helps to know where things are.

excellent! This is just what I needed to configure my new sql 2008 r2 Reporting Services. Thanks.

I found this to be very useful today.
I'm going through this by granting access to sharepoint folders, I was telling everyone to grant access to groups not individuals.

I never thought it was that easy to provide users on the domain access to the reports.
Though a bit away from SQL Server and more towards ASP but it would be nice to touch forms authentication implimentaion, as well as Report Builder

It may be helpful for new users for you mention that the process here is not relevant when you have Reporting Services set to Share Point Integrated mode.
