There are lots more to setting password in SQL server.
|
|

Agreed, there is a lot more to the password and to the login. However, this video was just to cover the basics of how to create a login for someone who has never done it before. Hopefully it met that goal.

This trainer is the best at pointing out where he is going, what he is clicking on and why...Most Excellent Trainer!!!

I am trying to learn this suff since my SQL Sever database driven website has been attacked and at the moment the only way I can stop it is by making the database read only. Currently any user has full rights, which I know is totally wrong but you guys are putting me on the right track.
Thanks again.

Why do I need a login?
Show how it plays together with a user on a db.

Excellent! To-the-point, clear, concise...just the way I like 'em! This video has all the qualities of the video that make sqlshare.com such a helpful site.

Might be a good idea to point out that every SQL login belongs to the "public" database role...could be a little confusing for newbies, especially if they try to uncheck it and find that they can't. Otherwise, good job!

would have loved just a little more insight into difference between a server login and a db user. Also comments on sql authentication vs windows would have been nice.
|
|

explain what is covered under each role, such as data reader role, data writer role and why there is always public role that needs to be checked, would have helped understand it better. This is amazing for a newby like me. Many Thanks,
