Building and Using a One Time Job

Among the rich options we have for jobs is the ability to set a job to automatically delete itself. In this example we schedule a requested change to a table to run after hours, but that could just as easily be updates to "fix" data or to rebuild a troublesome index. It's a simple technique that you'll use a lot during your career.

The job was setup to run one time only and it was run once only. I'm not sure why it produced an error. Thanks for presenting these tidbits in short, to-the-point videos. Much appreciated.

Auto deletion of the job is a cool feature. We tend to have a lot of one time only jobs hanging around so this feature will help with that. Great tip!

The error message when run manually needed a little more explanation. Would there be an error if it had been run as scheduled, rather than manually? Errors always unnerve me.

Extremely useful to know. Thank you.

This would really be helpful in managing day-to-day activities.

I wanted to have a bit more explanation as to why the error occurred, it doesn't seem as if you would expect an error from what was done.

Team - it's just a quirk of the UI as far as I can tell, it actually works the way it's supposed to other than the error:-)

I've been using jobs for many years, but never really noticed that checkbox. Pretty cool! Thanks!

Nice Feature to have
