Dan Feiling on 2/8/2011
a little disjointed....should have told the novice how to stop debug execution! maybe to much for this presentation, but should have mentioned that data source can be a query!

Brad Smith on 2/8/2011
THANKS, basic videos are a great thing ! I did the example, and found that if I used 'comma-delimited' the results got skewed because there are products that have names with a comma in them. i.e. Classic Vest, L Classic Vest, M Classic Vest, S which obviously means 'size' of vest. ( apparently size does matter ! :-) So my flat file result ( I sent it to an excel destination .csv file ) had some weird entries at rows 15, 16, 17 where the Classic Vest shows up. It put the S, M, and L into the ProductID column, and moved everything over one column: Name ProductID ListPrice Style Classic Vest L 866 63.5 Classic Vest M 865 63.5 Classic Vest S 864 63.5 Cone-Shaped Race 505 0 NULL Crown Race 323 0 NULL In the example Brian mentions ( and selects ) Tab Delimited, which would prevent that, I think. Is this is an example of "de-normalized" data where they have included 'size' within the product's name? Please correct if I've misunderstood. THANKS

Katerina on 2/8/2011
I found Aggregation transformation from this video very useful.

Jason Scott on 2/8/2011
Very good presentation with a few examples of the types of transforms and how easy it is to create what would have been a complicated task in native T-SQL. Well done. I am looking forward to the next in what I hope will be a thorough look at the functionality of SSIS.

nice way to explain.

Maurice Ivory on 2/9/2011
This was also excellent, I want to learn more about the Data Flow task

Diana Dee on 2/14/2011
I happen to have worked with this, but I am also an instructor of SQL Server. I think you assumed the onlookers know that a Data Flow task in the Control Flow surface leads to a Data Flow surface (tab) dedicated to that task. I would have emphasized that more, for the newbies.

Bridget on 2/16/2011
Great information, the sound was just kinda screwed up.

Louie Velez on 3/23/2011
Thank you, it's appreciated to see insights from a different perceptives.

this is nice i will appreciate your cooperation

Anand Mangipudi on 6/9/2011
Great Video!! But I was just wondering about the usage of the Aggregate and the Sort Transformation for the data from a SQL table as shown in the video. Isn't these operations Memory intensive and rather SSIS hog the memory, wont it be better to do these in the source component itself( SQL relational engine).

rojan on 7/26/2011
nice video
