Using a Script Transform in SSIS

In SSIS, the data you receive from the source is rarely in the format your end users would like to see. To correct this, you can use the Script Component to transform data. In this demo, Brian shows you how to use the Script transform to make a column proper case in the data flow.

Can you please provide some information about Trash destination, as i saw in video, we dont have to do any column mapping for this type of destination, hence it will be very much useful for us for learning SSIS, and develop Samples...you can mail me at qutubmumbai@gmail.com

Is there a video on how to debug the script transform task? This is where my issue is...setting it up is pretty straight forward. Good video for a someone who's never worked with SSIS though

I have watched a few of Brian Knight's SQL Server videos, and he does illustrate some fine basic scenarios. With all due respect, however, I wish that he would temper the occasional rapid-fire bursts of speech and speak just a little more clearly -- just a little. Otherwise, I think his videos are a great learning tool.

May need to update for SSIS 2008 mentioning C# complementing VB.Net

Chris on 3/25/2011
I'm going to go ahead and leave a comment. Then I'm going to go ahead and click Add Comment and go ahead and wait to see if anyone goes ahead and responds. I'm also going to go ahead and suggest that Brian go ahead and update this for SQL 2008 since Microsoft decided to go ahead and add C# support to the Script Transform. Good example and presentation, Brian, but I'd suggest slowing down just a bit, annunciate some more, and practice taking out the "um" "ah" and "go ahead" type filler that tends to distract people from the actual content of the presentation.

Phil Rothenberg on 3/25/2011
This video is a little outdated. It uses SQL Server 2005 and one major change in SQL 2008 is that you can now write code in either Visual Basic or C#.

Dan Feiling on 3/25/2011
any way to use powershell for a transformation???

Don Gilman on 3/25/2011
Filled in some gaps from reading his/their WROX book last year.

Very clear explanation, which I need since I don't know VB.NET. I have yet to use this Script Transform, but at least I know how. A good reason to use it will probably make itself known now.

Thanks - but Too Quick for beginner.
